Evaluation of ENVSEC
This report presents main findings of the evaluation of three ENVSEC projects in Central Asia, Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus, conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. The objective of the evaluation was to ascertain how effective these projects have been, and whether they have contributed to reduction of environment and security risks and to the increased cooperation around environment and security issues.

Strategic Workshop_Final Report
On 1 July 2009, the ENVSEC partners organized a workshop to present and discuss the findings of the Strategic review of the ENVSEC Initiative. The workshop, made possible thanks to a generous contribution from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, brought together 29 participants representing ENVSEC partner organisations, as well as partner and potential partner countries and institutions. The workshop was useful in doing the first selection and prioritization of the wealth of recommendations produced by the review.


Strategic Review of the ENVSEC Initiative - Final Report
This report includes main findings and recommendations of the strategic review of ENVSEC, carried out at the request of the ENVSEC Management Board by an external consultant in March-May 2009. The objective of the review was to critically examine ENVSEC six years after its establishment in order to assess its continued relevance and how well its approach, methodology and organization allow it to achieve its objections. Recommendations of the strategic review endorsed by the Management Board will be executed in the order of their priority as defined by the ENVSEC partners and their stakeholders.

Land of our concern (russian version)

Based on the assessment of 2007-2009 data, the report presents environmental situation in the Donetsk region (oblast) of Ukraine. The analysis shows the region's environmental, social and economic conditions, and the environmental impacts of economic activities. The report highlights issues such as air quality and pollution, water and land resources, climate change, biodiversity, waste management, health and industrial safety. Indicators in the report show environmental trends over time as well as map the issues within the region. Comparisons are drawn with other parts of Ukraine and with EU member-states. The report concludes with the priorities and the set-up for managing and monitoring the region's environment. Donetsk, 2010.

COALLAND: Faces of Donetsk

The publication summarizes several years of cooperation with the authorities and people of the Donetsk region, an important coal-producing, industrial and political centre of Ukraine. It presents to the broad audience the features of Donetsk environment, history, economy and everyday life, as well as the findings of the ENVSEC risk assessment analysis, highlighting the need for solid risk assessment and the potential sources of risk associated with mining activities in Donetsk.

October 2-13, 2006. ENVSEC supported and participated in the mission mandated by a UN General Assembly Resolution. The report was submitted in a letter dated 20 December 2006 from the Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General.
